Prelude to Midas Historic Tour Round 2, 12/04/2014

One and a half week to the next round of FUN!

Once again, what will Fossa do? How will the driver, hmmm, me do? The trip to Midvaal Raceway did place a strain on Fossa’s tires, especially left front. With the result a greater determination to give Fossa some more negative camber. That is done. Fossa’s front end vertical wheel travel has also been restricted. There will be a maximum shock travel of about 25mm on either side. Sher also now feels very stiff in the front. Once again how will Fossa respond with the changes and how will I interpret and handle it ….. She still needs to go for alignment on Saturday. Can not confirm if her 6000rpm limit has been resolved, can not put my neighbours through that.

And then changes to another lesson we have learnt. To load Fossa pre five o’clock in the morning utilizing the street in front of our home proved noisy and impossible in the wet. Another incident, when her engine was broken, getting her on and off was a unwanted challenge. Enter trailer modifications.

and After

Previously we had to drive Fossa over angle iron sections that, by chance, have exactly the same spacing as Fossa’s wheel base. This resulted in some high revving and a jumpy mounting. It now features some pretty expensive aluminium chequered plate. It will also feature home made mudguards! Still have some finishing touches to do, hampered by rain and the approaching winter and reduced daylight time.

And lastly for this update, we attended a very pleasant Pre66 Legends meeting last night. Not going to jump the gun …….. something quite exciting on the cards, may utilise the services of Thomas Falkiner, motor journo extraordinare, racer of a Shelby replica Ford Mustang, sure that will give Thomas something to write about, LOL ….. Time will tell, tick, tock, tick ….. I know but you will have to watch this space! Greeting Friends!
