Fossa makes an appearance at Bolt Stop ….

On Friday, 26 October Bolt Stop had their charity drive day. Out of gratefulness for their assistance we delivered a Fossa!

Hein applying some Mr Min Lavender to Fossa

Hein advised that in our absence there has been a lot of speculation about the engine powering Fossa, even a rotary. Well here is the specs of Fossa.

Engine: 1600 Kent (To our knowledge as her engine has not yet been opened by us) Double valve springs. Two cam shaft stickers indicate a possible off-standard cam.

Carburetor: 36DCD Weber

Gearbox: 105E

Differential: 105E

Weight: 849 Kg

Fossa being made presentable

Tomorrow Fossa will be attending the Classic Car Show hosted at NASREC.

Fossa’s planned outings for the rest of the year,  Race @ Zwartkops Raceway – 3 November, Practice @ Zwartkops Raceway – 11 November and Practice @ Zwartkops Raceway – 9 December. It has been a hectic few weeks.

Piston Ring Club, October 2012

What a day! The weather was unpredictable. Eventually the sun broke through and shone over a cool day. Out of character we arrived latish like the bride.

Then the questions and discussions …….

So many suggestions on improving Fossa, and questions about Fossa, about historic racing ………. and comments of other cars being prepared for ……. HISTORIC MOTOR RACING! Truly good news everywhere we go.

————————–

On our arrival back home a brief rest and then back to basics. Removed her tires, checked and cleaned wheel bearings, brake pads verified, wheels fronts swopped for rears ….. A few more things on the to do list.

Coming Sunday you can see Fossa at the Classic Car Show hosted at NASREC.

TraxDay, 14 October 2012, success for the team

The usual early arrival. Not uncommon for the team to arrive at our second home, Zwartkops Raceway finding the rest of the family out.

Found our TraxDay spot. Parked the cars, unpacked and hung our home made Historic Racing banners.

Made some tasty steaming coffee, enjoyed that with a muffin, polished Fossa. First historic car to arrive, Gerdus Smit’s Locost.

We entered into the day with a previous best in the 1:41’s and my target although I thought it was steep, to get into the 1:39’s.

A few days earlier I installed an application called RaceChrono on my Android cellphone. A truly magical application.

Out and in laps included we completed 71 laps @ 2.4 Km = 170.4 Km. In our first stint we did a best of 1:43.14.

The in-be-tweener, our friend Thomas Falkiner arrived and took a stint with me in Fossa while Chris “Roach” took a ride with Gerdus. I am sure he missed his Mustang!

In our last stint we ran a 1:38.31 with a good average throughout the stint. A few more seconds needed to become competitive in the Little Giants. Has Fossa got it in her? Do I have it in me?

Next stop, Piston Ring Club and Zwartkops, 3 November!
